I run a Mininote 2133, with Ubuntu 8.10
My problem is: wlan up -> run for several minutes -> wlan down.
I am not a linux pro, but i could guess it's because of the acpi. I hear the harddrive turn off when nothing is r/w, all the time.. Is that something built-in, or is it affectable by the kernel?

Try Ubuntu 8.04. Their HowTo guide gets most things to work. I still can't do WPA2, and the video output Fn key is dead.
SLED is totally useless because it is too old.
1) The HP version is unpatched. When you apply the 2 service packs, everything breaks. I don't know about you, but I can't afford to run an unpatched computer.
2) SLEDF is based on SUSE 10.1. They removed all the 10.1 repositories, so you can't easily get new software. For example, Firefox 3 will not run because GTK is too old.

Has anyone been more successful with OpenSUSE 11?

I have a mininote with SLED and under the default config the wireless worked fine when I tried it zero config just hit the switch which turns the light from orange to blue (v.definitely blue on my machine). I really didn't like how locked down SLED is though so have installed a dual boot with openSuSE 11 (which is great, even KDE4 works), in this partition I am trying to figure out how to get wireless working. The problem isn't SuSE it is just that HP have chosen a locked down 'business' version of the distro.

Joe - Agreed, I'm going to partition the hard drive so I can add an Ubuntu installation.

While not for the faint of hear, there are great tutorials on getting Ubuntu installed on the Mini-Note.
The problem is SUSE which was not ready at all for prime time.
It's obvious that they didn't even bother to use the thing with SUSE installed or they would have realized the wifi problem.
